Strategic seminar from USAID and Ukrainian Association of Rayon and Oblast Councils
On December 19-20, a StrategicSeminar was held in Kyiv: “New Challenges and Tasks for Regional Development and Restoration, Formation of a New Regional Policy and Determination of European Integration Processes”
The purpose of the event was:
- opening a dialogue on the constitutional consolidation of the results of the local self-government reform at the regional level;
- Identification of approaches to the division of powers between the levels of local self-government and public authorities, as well as resource provision of powers;
- generalization of ideas on the priorities for the implementation of regional policy for local self-government, taking into account new challenges and tasks of regional development and recovery;
- identifying priorities in the activities of regional and district councils under martial law.
Taras Holub, Advisor to the Vice Prime Minister for European and Euro-Atlantic Integration of Ukraine, also took part in the event. The topic of discussion was: European integration of regional self government. Building an effective partnership. The participants discussed the harmonization of Ukrainian legislation on local and regional self-government in the process of accession to the EuropeanUnion, the EU’s regional policy and the Cohesion Policy.
