Rehab4U: Building Ukraine’s Modern Rehabilitation System with USAID

We took part in a presentation to the Rehab4U project – a large-scale rehabilitation program supported by USAID in partnership with the Ministry of Health of Ukraine. The initiative with a budget of 40 million dollars is allocated for 5 projects and will cover 15 regions of the country, giving Ukrainians access to clear rehabilitation assistance. The implementation of this project is of strategic importance for Ukraine, and even the war has created new challenges for the health care system, including nutrition and physical rehabilitation of victims.

At the end of the day, the following speeches were given by: Bridget Brink, Supreme and Principal Ambassador of the United States to Ukraine; Irina Vereshchuk, Deputy Prime Minister of Ukraine and Minister for the Reintegration of the Temporarily Occupied Territories; Viktor Lyashko, Minister of Health of Ukraine, as well as Valentina Kamlyuk, Intercessor of the Minister of Health of Ukraine.

The Rehab4U project aims to improve the management potential of the rehabilitation system in Ukraine, which includes improved coordination and increased service levels. Together with the Ministry of Health and WHO, the project is working on the promotion of current mechanisms for monitoring and professional training, as well as the security of current management.

Rehab4U also focuses on expanded access to assistive technologies, such as wheelchairs, prosthetics and police, which are necessary for the physical rehabilitation of patients. Within the framework of the project, it is planned to expand professional training programs for rehabilitation specialists and create new master’s programs in physical rehabilitation and ergotherapy at medical universities.

Another priority is promoting social inclusion and expanding the capabilities of people with disabilities. The project focuses on the integration of rehabilitation services in regional communities, which is suitable for the active participation of people from disability to a happy life and their participation in the economically updated Ukraine They are. Particular attention is paid to the development of programs for communities that allow the provision of services with physical rehabilitation and inclusive support in the community.

The Rehab4U project brings together a wide range of stakeholders – national and local organizations, international partners and local communities – to create a sustainable, sustainable and inclusive rehabilitation system in Ukraine. We thank USAID for its strategic support, which is extremely important for the creation of a sound rehabilitation system that meets international standards. This initiative is an important step towards improving the quality of life of Ukrainians and supporting the socio-economic renewal of the country.
