New Solutions for Ukraine’s Water Infrastructure

Our team, together with partners from the State Water Resources Agency of Ukraine and the NGO “Strategy of the Future”, participated in the 2nd International Conference “Water Resources Management: Realities and Perspectives,” organized by the Ukrainian Water Association. The event brought together experts, representatives of government bodies, local communities, and international organizations to discuss pressing challenges and strategies for effective water resource management in Ukraine. The conference featured specialists from the USA, Canada, South Korea, Israel, Japan, UN institutions, and Ukrainian state bodies.

The discussions included the current status of groundwater, strategies for its preservation, and sustainable use. A particularly relevant topic for us was “Shaping Public Policy for Economical Use, Accounting, and Monitoring of Water Resources.” The EUUCD Project Office, in collaboration with the team from the State Water Resources Agency, is working on a project to digitalize surface water accounting and explore financing opportunities for implementation.

Additionally, the conference addressed potential funding options from international donors for water projects in Ukrainian communities, creating new opportunities for infrastructure development and improving water quality. We appreciate the organizers for the chance to learn from global experiences and be inspired by new ideas for future projects!
