GRAIN UKRAINE 2024 conference
The GRAIN UKRAINE conference was held in Kyiv, at which Taras Golub gave a speech on the panel “Prospects of European integration of agrarian business”.
The main accents of the speech:
- The EU is a compromise association of European countries, therefore all Ukrainians: business, associations, government, citizens, need to conduct a compromise dialogue with their counterparties in the EU in order to offer their contribution to the development of the EU; negotiations with the EU cannot be viewed as a struggle, a win-to-win strategy must be found in the negotiations;
- EU agricultural sector support programs have not yet been opened for Ukrainian residents (as for residents of member countries), but Ukrainian companies from the agricultural sector can participate in certain open EU programs (Horizon Europe, Single Market Program, Interreg Europe, etc.);
- you should not confuse EU programs with donor aid programs for Ukraine: EU programs are not so much “about money”, they are about joint work with European colleagues, and it is also an opportunity to contribute your competences to the formation of pan-European strategies.
The conference became an important international event for the discussion of the agricultural market. At the event, leaders of agri-food companies, banks and technological experts gathered to discuss new trends, the development of sustainable business models and the introduction of innovations in agriculture.
Participants focused on strategic challenges for Ukraine’s grain market, including local challenges faced by agricultural producers due to the war. They discussed prospects for the development of the industry and ways to overcome difficulties
